What We Do & How We Help
A cybersecurity apprenticeship provides a structured and hands-on learning experience, allowing individuals to gain practical skills and knowledge in the field of cybersecurity. Through mentorship and real-world projects, apprentices develop expertise in areas such as ethical hacking, risk management, and incident response, ultimately preparing them for a successful career in addressing the evolving challenges of digital security.
Security Control Assessor
Conducts comprehensive assessments to ensure compliance with established security policies, standards, and regulations.
Systems Security Analyst
Analyze, develop and implement security policies, and ensure the ongoing effectiveness of security safeguards & protocols.
Technical Support Specialist
Involves a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and effective communication to resolve security issues.
Our Process
Studies and statistics show that the Cybersecurity Workforce gap is expected to hit 3 million worldwide over the next few years. The objective of this program is to address the cybersecurity workforce gap by preparing a non-traditional entry-level and junior-level workforce for careers in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a new and emerging apprenticeship occupation recognized by the United States Department of Labor (DOL) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). In 2018, Carter Enterprise Solutions, LLC was approved by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (DLLR) as a Registered Apprenticeship under the Maryland Apprenticeship and Training Program (MATP).
Our apprenticeship model was designed to attract new talent and cultivate a solid cybersecurity workforce that is competitive and prepared to help protect our nation’s infrastructure. The program focuses on core competencies that highlight the knowledge, skills, abilities, and characteristics necessary to perform critical work tasks, specific functions, or operate in a Cybersecurity role or position. The course curriculums are designed to prepare candidates for cybersecurity disciplines that align with the NIST 800-181, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework (NICE Framework). With this approval, our program became the 1st Cybersecurity-Specific Apprenticeship in the State of Maryland as well as the 14th Cybersecurity Apprenticeship recognized by DOL in the United States.

On-The-Job Training (OJT)
Once accepted into the program. Apprentices engage in real-world projects and scenarios, applying the skills acquired during training. This OJT experience is a critical step in reinforcing theoretical knowledge, enhancing problem-solving abilities, and preparing apprentices for the challenges they may encounter in cybersecurity roles.

Mentorship & Guidence
Throughout the apprenticeship, participants receive mentorship from experienced cybersecurity professionals. Mentors provide guidance, share industry insights, and support apprentices in navigating the complexities of the field. This step is essential for fostering professional development and accelerating the learning curve.

Certification & Career Pathway
The apprenticeship program often includes opportunities for participants to earn industry-recognized certifications.
